Laptop vs Google Chrome, loser-Dave
Wednesday, 9 July 2014
Well, I was working on a post/rant yesterday, and don't even know how far I got, 'cause I was working on it all day yesterday, but as I started to review and edit it for spelling and punctuation before posting, my Browser locked up!
I have been using Google Chrome for mail and now most of my browsing, as Firefox has been routinely locking up and needed to be restarted often. Except when I need to attach a file to an email, then I have to send it from Firefox, 'cause Chrome won't attach files.
So, with the browser locked up, I waited a good hour, seeing that it wasn't responding, and then finally clicked close, but the whole Blog disappeared! No saved draft! And I had a valid rant and a good history lesson included!
So, on to today's subject. I had my physical for the state disability determination board (for my Social Security Disability), and had an oral history and physical exam.
The staff were pleasant and the doctor congenial, but he had to admit he had learned something new with my FAI (Femoroacetabular impingement) that led to the microfracture of my hip. But they got a FULL medical history, including 6 cracked ribs, and 3 bent fingers, et al!
But only time will tell what they saw when they examined me! But without prompting, I was in pain and said "OW" a lot being while poked and prodded! Hope that helped!
Hurry up and wait again.
More pins and needles while sweating out the day to day living issues. Now if I can only get County Services to bite...
I will call them yet again tomorrow if there is still no mail response after 1000 tomorrow. I will continue to pester them until they actually pay attention!
On to other subjects, as I don't have the motivation now to recap yesterday's lost blog entry about my visit to the Southeast Clergy Hunger Center food pantry.
Well, I had another couple of calls from Charlotte yesterday, as she finally responded after trying to reach me Saturday to have me over. She went into a meltdown because after 2 months of giving reasons why she couldn't have me over to eat, sleep, or bathe, or even visit, she was upset about my not responding when she called Saturday to invite over for a shower and a meal.\
She didn't return any of my calls after I found her missed calls, and when she finally did anreturn my call on Tuesday, she at first accused me of going to the bars to pick up women, and I new it was gonna be a bad night. Sure enough, she announced she was upset, and had been ignoring my calls intentionally, and was planning on getting drunk.
Well she did. And at 0250 Tuesday morning I got a call while sitting on the patio of the Get-Go watching an old 1980's post apocalyptic sci fi movie on YouTube. She immediately started in on me saying that she had just hung up with some of my friends who were upset with me over my situation. I asked who and she wouldn't say, then I asked if she called them or they called her.
She said that my friends M & S had both called her, and that she had just hung up with S, who she described in a very bad light. I said I doubted that she had indeed actually talked to these people, and she proceeded to give an even less flattering description, and I knew she was making it up. I hung up on her and haven't heard a peep since. I'm betting she won't even remember making any of those calls, yet again.
I did email both individuals, and both responded that neither have talked to C in ages, and would hang up on her if she ever did call! Thanks guys, and I am sorry she drags you and other of my friends into this BS. This is one of my big beefs about alcohol abuse! Because of the hurt it does to loved ones that the alcohol abusers refuse to acknowledge that they are hurting anyone with their drinking!
Be interesting to see what she says about any of what transpired. And I don't look forward to it.
My, oh my! The rain has stopped, and there is a beautiful rainbow visible in the eastern sky! Still some dark clouds around though the sun is shining through, probably more rain to follow tonight.
But the heat of the sun feels good especially since the wind has died down substantially!
I'm gonna sign off here and watch a movie. Be back later!
Well, I am back. It is Wednesday morning and i am at the Bedford Library. I had a quiet night last night, meeting another new regular (housing challenged) person at Get-Go, Denny. A few others dropped in, and I shared some raisin bran with Denny, he shared some fancy Biscotti with me. Terry also joined us, and he bought us both hot dogs with the cash he had all day pumping gas, checking oils, and pushing a stalled truck off of the street.
The walk here was tough, I was cold overnight on the patio (temp down to 60degF) and though it had warmed, I was too cold, and overheated at the same time, making the 1 mile residential trek especially excruciating! But I arrived taking only 6 rests and 35 minutes, with time to spare to put away my bags at my table before getting desperate for the bathroom. (The raisin bran sure does it work, well!)
I signed online, and my lost blog draft appeared! So I finished correcting that and posted it, and returned to this. I am going to shut down again and use the bathroom yet again (I know less than an hour, but 2 of my meds are industrial strength diuretics!) before heading to the post office and look for food Stamp mail!
Back again. I am suppressing the urge to use the bathroom again, but know I will have to succumb soon. The diuretics (and all of raisins and raisin bran) work on the GI tract as well as the bladder...
I know this post is jumping all over the place, but it was started in response to losing Tuesday's draft for 16 hours. But i do have a lot on my mind!
I wanted to make a point about my sleeping that many don't understand, and I tried to explain to the doctor yesterday, and that is the fact that I don't actually sleep anymore. I nap sitting up or leaning, what I refer to as "Tactical Mode", where I close my eyes and open my ears and other senses to my surroundings with my shillelagh and now expandable baton (thanks, Bryce, now I am gonna have to practice with it!) fully aware of all activity in my vicinity, listening for car doors, footsteps, deer, raccoon, possum, cats, and skunks.
In other words I catnap with my radar on, not fully asleep and ready to respond to any threat! (The deer and the 'coons are most aggressive about their "browse" territory!) I have been surprised 2x so far by law enforcement, once at the Metro Parks by a ranger who crept up on me when I nodded off sitting upright at a picnic table in the pavilion, and again at the Gazebo (Bedford Commons) when I fell asleep charging my cell phone in the rain. Both times they approached stealthily!
Otherwise, I am awake with eyes open and ears perked when anyone is nearby (usually). Not much good for getting rest, and since it is typically in the sitting position, not conducive to body rest either! Lately though I have been drifting off into deeper sleep, and been unaware of people approaching. Not a good thing.
Well, my phone has been paid up for another month (thanks to my Sister Sandra in VA), and I will keep checking my PO Box for any word at all from Social Services.
I will end here, as the Library is closing shortly, and I wish to use the facilities once more before they close.
I'll pick up again on this soon.
