I have remained quiet for the last 2 weeks on purpose. I am still awaiting word from the Social Security Administration on my Disability Claim, but have received my EBT Card and was approved for Medicaid.
Denny and I have almost exhausted my $250 on my Ohio Direction (EBT/SNAP) card, so tomorrow I will venture back to the South Haven UCC Church for the South East Clergy Hunger Center food bank. We are actually gaining weight, but it is not from eating healthy, but on the cheap!
We do a lot of sandwiches, PB&J, cold cuts, and canned tuna or chicken. I can buy cold salads, cold subs, and cold fried chicken at Walmart, Giant Eagle, and gas station markets, but we cannot purchase hot prepared foods or fresh bakery items. I can buy cake, shrimp, live lobster, caviar, and expensive steak cuts, but not hot meals! How messed up is that?
We can't cook, don't have a fridge (though I bought a Coleman Cooler to chill our lunch meat and boxed milk for cold cereal), so that limits our grocery choices to canned goods eaten cold, and deli style & canned Spam sandwiches (though we can't have the deli make our sandwiches).
Allegedly, in Ohio,the homeless, disabled, and elderly can buy discounted meals at select restaurants with our EBT cards. Only no one has a list of them, or knows of any personally!
And, just to keep all up to date, the EBT card arrived, along with all of my other Welfare Services (County Service Center) mail, at the EVIL PO Box in Bedford! I guess what I have been saying about the County Service Center Personnel is True, They Haven't a Clue!
Just sayin'!
I was repeatedly told by the folks at Welfare that the will not send EBT cards to a post office box! (All in direct violation of Federal Law 7CFR273.3(a) which states that homeless People must be provided Food Assistance (Food Stamps) without a mailing address!
I am pleased that Medicaid was approved, but I am still waiting for the card and info so I can get my blood tests done that my doctor ordered 3 months ago!
|And will someone please turn down the rain here in NE Ohio? This is getting ridiculous! Everything I own (it much anymore, but its all I have) is getting wet! I got soaked to the bone last night walking back to the truck!
And yes, I know, winter is only 2 months away now, so I shouldn't complain! It will be cold and wet enough in short order! (Where are my winter boots, long johns, and my winter parka?)
